On Friday, March 17th the Liberty Misses performed at the Miss Shoreline/Miss Long Island Sound pageant. Our 1999 LMs, Alison and Taylor were giving up their titles. The pageant was country themed and Alison, Christine, Kimberly, Kirstie and Taylor performed our country medley. Christine was also the choreographer for the pageant. By the end of the evening, we had a new Miss Shoreline, Kelly. We pause for a group photo after the show: L-R: Kimberly, Taylor, Alison, Kirstie and Christine.
Saturday, March 18th we performed at the Miss Oxford/Miss Valley pageant. Long-time LM Heather was giving up her title. Her platform was in support of Veterans and the theme of the show was all Americana. Kimberly, Kirstie and Amy started the show with an American medley. Heather and Christine were featured dancers and also choreographed the contestant's production numbers. At the end of the show, Erin joined us for the finale, "God Bless The U.S.A." After the finish, Kimberly surprised Heather with a plaque for her years of dedicated service. At the end of the evening, Alison was the new Miss Oxford and Taylor garnered a Runner-Up position.
April was just as exciting as we wished Stacy well at her wedding shower. Kirstie, Amy, Stacy, Kimberly, Erin and Maria. Later that afternoon, we attended the Miss Nutmeg pageant in support of Taylor.
Saturday, April 8th, we attended the wedding of Christine to Steve, whom she met while touring overseas in Bahrain. Steve is stationed there and Christine will be moving there with him shortly. Steve's father was the Best Man and Heather was the Maid of Honor. Saturday, April 15th we performed at the West Haven VA Hospital in conjunction with the CT AMVETS. This was the first show for our new LMs, Joy, Mary and Melanie. We had just been informed of an overseas tour and we were going to be heading overseas in May. Alison and our newest LM Kelly weren't able to go because of their Miss Connecticut responsibilities.
Sunday, April 30th our local Veterans once again put together a fundraiser for us. This was also a going away show for us as we were leaving a few days later for our summer tour.
While we were away on tour, our LM Stacy finally married her Prince Charming, Vinny in a fairytale wedding - complete with a carriage ride!
Just home eight days and we were happy to once again support our CT AMVETS. Their state convention took place on Friday, June 9th in North Haven. Kimberly, Melanie and Taylor were joined by our newest member, Kelly. We performed many group numbers and solos. Kelly started out the show for us. Melanie and Taylor strut their stuff in the country medley. Kimberly performed the "Armed Forces Medley" which had her saluting to each branch member as they stood during their song. After our show, the National AMVETS Commander congratulated our group and we were presented with an award. At that time, he also extended the prestigious invitation to perform at the National Commander's Dinner at the National AMVETS Convention in August. We graciously accepted. Kimberly was also presented with a beautiful doll by our friend and State Vice President, Donna.
Sunday, August 13th we were featured on the CT AMVETS float in the 301st Annual VJ Day Parade in Moosup. Alison, Kelly and Kimberly were happy to participate. Here we are singing "God Bless the U.S.A." as we pass the review stand. Following behind us in his car are "Dads" Richard and Mike. Is Al trying to be part of the Supremes Medley? Friday, August 18th we headed for Philadelphia! The AMVETS National Commander's Dinner was the highlight of the week long event. Among the honored guests were Miss America 2000, Heather French - a major advocate for Veteran's Affairs. Alison, Kelly, Kimberly and Kirstie had the honor of meeting her and many other distinguished guests.
Sunday, August 20th we were back in Connecticut for the Wolcott Lions Club Country Fair. It is usually one of the largest fairs in the state. We closed down the end of the fair before the fireworks. Kelly, Kimberly and Kirstie performed a variety of numbers. 1998-1999 LM, Erin was there to cheer us on.
Gaylord Community Hospital had us come by for a special show in September. Friday, November 8th we appeared at First Congregational Church in Waterbury for one of our long time supporters, Wanda Dinzmore.
Saturday, December 9th we headed to Groton Naval Base to perform, sign autographs and take photos with our Servicemen and Servicewomen. Alison, Joy, Kirstie and Taylor were joined by our newest member, Lindsay.
Christmas is a special time for us and our Veterans. Saturday, December 16th we had our Christmas show at West Haven VA Hospital. Saturday, December 22nd we appeared at the West Haven VA Hospital.
